Mods Museum Of Dream Space Los Angeles Review
In the age of selfies and doing it for the gram, you may have noticed the rise of pop-up museums featuring curated art exhibits that function as photo opps. Theyre definitely a fun way to spend an afternoon with friends snapping selfies, and will elevate your social media feed with eye-catching shots.
Most recently, I visited the Museum of Dream Space or MODS Museum in Los Angeles, a digital art museum with immersive exhibits designed by Yayoi Kusama. Its comprised of six rooms all with their own aesthetic experience, relying heavily on the use of lights, projection, and reflection.
The MODS Museum is definitely one of the more pricey pop-ups Ive encountered. Adult admission is $32, though you can take advantage of a Buy 5 Get 1 Free deal if you want to go with friends. Something unique that MODS offers that I havent seen in other pop-ups, though, is the VIP package which includes a personal photographer to stage and shoot your photos for you. This option costs $60 for an individual, or $100 per couple.
Also you get a goodie bag with your VIP package that includes a tote bag, water bottle, pen and lip balm. A fun touch!
How To Get To Mods
Museum of Dream Space Address:Grand Canal Shoppes / Palazzo3327 Las Vegas Blvd S Ste 2732Las Vegas, NV 89109
MODS is located at the Grand Canal Shoppes, closer to Palazzo. There is free parking at the Palazzo Tower. From there, take the front desk elevators up to the Casino/Lobby level.
Once youre at the lobby, take the escalators to the Grand Canal Shoppes on the second level and turn left. MODS will be the first store on your left.

The Museum of Dream Space, or MODS for short, is the first museum in the US mainly featuring digital art. You can see that MODS drew inspiration from Yayoi Kusamas infinity rooms.
The Museum of Dream Space currently has three locations in Los Angeles and one in Las Vegas.
Its a great mix of immersive art and photo opportunities for you.

No Extra Photography Equipment Is Allowed
Cameras are welcomed, however no other professional equipment such as tripods, umbrellas, lights, etc. is allowed. Because no tripods is allowed, it is a little difficult to get nice photos on your own. I recommend going with a friend or bringing your Instagram husband. It is such a cool experience to share with somebody.
The Rooms At Museum Of Dream Space Las Vegas
After checking in, you can roam freely. I liked doing a quick walk through the rooms to get an overview and then going back to spend time shooting each room.
Most people take 20-30 minutes, but there isnt a time limit, and you are welcome to stay as long as you want. We spent around 45 minutes, but we were shooting photos and videos in multiple formats.
There are five distinct rooms, and there arent any official names to them, but we named them to help you navigate the museum.
The Floral Lobby: This doesnt count as an official room, but you can take photos with the wall covered in flowers.
The Gold Room: This is a gold room with fun textured walls and lights covering the ceiling.
The Projection Room: Next up is a room with projected art on the wall. This room includes a beautiful full moon you can shoot in front of as well as a couple of other pieces.
The Lightbulb Room: This room was inspired by Yayoi Kusamas infinity rooms. There are floating lightbulbs that show electric currents when you touch them, and mirrors cover the walls.
The Orb Room: The next room is filled with color-changing orbs. Theres a seat in the corner for photo opps as well as one with drapes. We thought the drapes were a tad creepy.
The Faces Room: Pretty Dones projected freestyle pop art fills an entire room with bright colors. If youre wearing lighter colors like me, you become the canvas for his art.

How Much Time Do You Need
This will vary person to person. To give you an idea, we finished in about 45-50 minutes and were the only ones in each room. There were a few visitors following us but far enough behind that we werent overlapping. We took a LOT of pictures, and visited some rooms twice. If youre not much on photos, maybe you wont need quite so much time.

Best Time To Visit Mods Museum
We never felt rushed, but we also visited on a Thursday early afternoon so there werent many other attendees. When encountered with a lot of visitors at once, the museum limits the amount of people inside which can result in a line. I can appreciate this because, for the money, youre going to want pictures without a bunch of strangers photobombing. I would really try to visit right at opening so you can take your time and get your moneys worth. We finished in about 30-40 minutes and were the only ones in each room. There were a few visitors following us but far enough behind that we werent overlapping. Especially if youre choosing the VIP package, you wont want to be rushed!

What To Wear To Mods Museum
Because the exhibits are so pattern-focused, from projected designs or mirrors creating geometric effects, your body often becomes part of the exhibit itself. If youre wearing something too busy, it could take the focus away and even diminish the end result. I wore this solid-colored spaghetti-strap and it was perfect for helping the art stand out. I had a jean jacket on at the beginning of our time, but ended taking it off since that was too distracting in my eyes as well. On the flip side, Ive seen people wear more costume-y outfits in the museum for really great photos. Id just stay away from patterned street clothes for the best effect.

It was fun but definitely wish It was bigger, we walked through and took pics in less than 10 min. staff was super friendly and youre allowed in and out privileges which is cool. We drove from over an hour away so glad I got the love package which was two tickets for the price of one. 42 dollars for one ticket is just way too high. 20 bucks seems more realistic. Super big mall though which has a lot of stores to go look at before or after youre done with MODS
For what it is, it’s not a bad stop if you’re really into taking Instagram photos. The sets are generally varied, but mind you, you can easily get through everything in under 40 minutes.I’d advise you to check Groupon to see if there’s a deal. Paying full price seems a bit much given what you get.It’s not really a detour worthy spot, so much as it is a “Oh, I’m in the area, have some time to kill, and I love getting affirmation from likes on Instagram”-kinda place
Went as a family of 3. Staff was friendly and helpful. You cannot pull down face mask due to newest Covid variant. They said we could come back with the same ticket later though. Fun place. Half off on NYE and New Years day . Had a blast taking selfies and video.

Mods Museum Of Dream Space
Brea and I bought our VIP tickets when we first heard about this museum because the digital art here really reminded us of a museum in Japan that we didnt get to visit. On the day that we went to the MODS Museum, we also went with Breas sister and her family. They decided to upgrade their tickets to VIP too when they got there. There is a small line for the VIP section so we were waiting for a few minutes before one of the workers gave us the option to walk through the rooms ourselves first since our photographers were not ready yet. We thought this was a good idea so that we can get a feel for the rooms and see what we liked the most. There are 6 rooms total and no time limit. It took us less than an hour to get through all the rooms and take our photos.

Go Straight To Your Priority Room
Its a good idea to come with a plan of which rooms you want to visit first. Some of the more popular ones fill up very quickly, and before long, lines are formed and youll find yourself spending lots of time waiting.
The most Instagrammable spots in the museum, in my opinion, are the Lantern Room and the Hanging Chandelier Room. As they are so pretty, they are of course very popular. The Lantern Room is especially hard to get a photo with no one else in it, so try to get there as soon as you can.

Sneak Peek Of The Museum Of Dream Space Las Vegas
Although Las Vegas has plenty of , sometimes we have fomo when we see our friends post about the weekly pop-ups and art exhibits that rotate through NYC. Its a shame we cant be everywhere at once.
